AIY is run by a group of dedicated volunteers, all practitioners of Iyengar Yoga.

There are titled roles but, on the whole, the committee works collectively in its activities to serve its local Iyengar community, share ideas and bring them to fruition.

What we do

Our main activity is in organising and hosting workshops with both UK and international teachers. Alongside this we provide annual professional training days for our teachers, promote National Iyengar Yoga Day in our local area and maintain and display an up-to-date list of our teacher members.

We encourage inclusivity and endeavour to make Iyengar Yoga accessible for all. Our Bursary scheme was set up to make study at RIMYI possible for those in need of financial assistance and we continue to explore other ways in which the committed and long-term study of Iyengar Yoga is made possible for a wide audience.

We are committed to building a community that encourages Iyengar Education and embraces the new mentoring system. New schemes such as ‘A Shared Space’ are being introduced to support this aim.

If you are interested in joining the committee we would be delighted to hear from you. Please email avoniyengar@gmail.com.
